Topics for discussion

As we move into the holiday season, I am thinking that I should transform this journal somewhat into a dialogue on Houston and the issues, spoken and unspoken, about this city, its history, its strengths, challenges, etc.

I especially want to hear from Houstonians about the following issues of interest...

Houston or Atlanta? Which is better and why?

Why do the neighborhoods in Houston tend to be segregated by ethnic groups?

Why do METRO buses not run in the Houston suburbs? It is ridiculous that I cannot take a regular bus to Pearland, Sugarland, Katy or the Woodlands. EVERY OTHER CITY I have lived in in this country has had some kind of access to suburban areas - even Atlanta, which finally got bus service to "we don't want those people in" Gwinnett County not long before I left in 2001.
